Dear Libby,
Well, I think you're officially potty trained! You have been peeing and pooping on the potty absolutely all the time, with no accidents, for almost a month now, so I feel like I can finally say it out loud without jinxing it. You're still wearing a pull-up at night, of course, but that's fine. I'm so proud of you! You've been through so much change in the last couple months, with switching to a new daycare, and starting potty-training at the same time, and you've done so well! You are such a big girl.
You are having lots of fun going to dance class on Monday afternoons, upstairs at your daycare. You love wearing your ballet slippers, and your leotard and tights. You also love gymnastics on Saturday mornings at the Y. I'm excited for you to start ballet and tap there after you turn three. After your class, we always watch the ballet/tap class through the window for a bit.
Your newest obsession is Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. You have a small Daniel Tiger stuffed animal that we gave you after you stayed dry for 10 days. You sleep with it, and love to watch the show. You're also very into Doc McStuffins right now. You've had the doctor kit since last Christmas, but you just saw the show for the first time recently. I'm okay with you watching these shows, since they both teach good lessons.
You're such a sweet and loving girl. I love you more than you could ever know, sweet girl.
Love,
Mommy

New school!
Dear Libby,
You had QUITE the big week last week. Last Monday, you started at a new school, started wearing underpants, AND got a big girl twin size bed, all on the same day! You started in the Owl room at BDLC, and you are loving it! You either had to be in diapers or underpants there, no pull-ups, so you're wearing underpants now. You are doing really well! You still aren't always pooping on the potty, but you've had very few potty accidents. I'm so very proud of you! You aren't really sleeping any better than before, but I know that you WILL sleep, sooner or later. Ha! Your big brother sleeps through the night almost every night now, so I know that there is hope for you in the future too.
In your new classroom, you have to do lots of things yourself- go potty, wash your hands, fill your plate for meals from big serving bowls, pour your milk from a little pitcher and drink from a big kid cup, put on your shoes/coats yourself, etc. It is amazing to see you being so self-sufficient! Every day, I swear you just know more and more words, and get taller and skinnier. I had to buy you new shoes over the weekend, and you are now in a size 10! What?! I don't think your big brother wore a 10 until he was 4 years old!
I just love you so much, my sweetheart.
Love,
Mommy

No more paci!
Dear Libby,
You are getting to be such a big girl! You're going potty on the potty chair now, usually at least a few times a day at daycare. You aren't as interested in it at home on the weekends... but I know you'll get it soon. You talk SO much, and I can understand you most of the time. You just keep getting taller and slimmer, which is making me sad! You definitely aren't a baby anymore!
I just got an email this morning offering you a spot at a different daycare. You'll be starting there next month. It's going to be so different! Liam went to the same daycare that you're at now, so I've been going there almost every morning for well over 6 years now! You are going to love it at your new "school" though. I think it will be a really good change, and it's going to be nice to have you somewhere close to home. My drive to drop you off and pick you up is going to be so much simpler once you're there.
You're also a big girl because you've been paci-free now for over a week! You are sleeping horribly... but you haven't asked for your paci at all. You just need to learn how to soothe and calm yourself, so that you can actually relax and go to sleep. Like with the potty-training, I know you'll "get it" soon.
I love you, sweet girl.

Mommy

My big girl!
Dear Libby,
You are talking so much now! You like to count (to somewhere around 15) and say your ABCs. You really like to say, "OH. MY. GOSH!" and "I don't know" and "It's MINE!" I love hearing your little voice. You also say, "I love you, Mommy!" without me having to say it first. Makes me tear up every time.
You're sleeping pretty well. Most nights you only wake up a couple times, and I'm usually able to just come in your room, put your paci back in your mouth, and leave again. I know we need to drop the paci soon, but I'm dreading it. I know it's going to change your sleep, and I'm not ready for that! I think your two year molars are coming in right now, which definitely wakes you up in pain some nights, but most of the time you're sleeping well.
You've been much pickier about eating lately, but I think that may also be because of your molars coming in. You just want to drink a lot of milk, and then you'll push away your food and say, "no thank you." At least you're polite about it. Ha! You want oatmeal for breakfast pretty much every morning, and most evenings we end up giving you some cottage cheese, or yogurt with granola, after you refuse the meal that we're eating.
The weather is finally getting warmer, so you've worn shorts a couple times now. You just seem so TALL now that I can see your bare legs and arms. It's crazy!
I love you so much, sweet girl.

I love you too, sweet girl
Dear Libby,
I've been so worried for awhile now, about your language delay. You're definitely picking up lots of words, but don't really speak in sentences yet, other than "I get it." Well, yesterday, you and I were sitting on the couch watching Winnie the Pooh (which you are obsessed with lately), and all of a sudden, out of the blue, you turned to me and started patting my back and said, "I love you, Mommy." I fully admit that I burst into tears. It was such a sweet moment, and I'll never ever forget it.
I love you too, sweet girl. More than you could possibly ever know.
