Dear Libby,
You are now FOUR years old! How did this happen?! You have been practicing how to hold up four fingers for weeks and weeks, and you can finally show people that you are FOUR. You just keep getting taller and and more beautiful every day. I had the chance to really look at your eyes yesterday, and they're a gorgeous shade of grey, unlike anything I've seen. I don't know where in the world you got those beautiful eyes. I'm amazed that I made such a gorgeous girl. Ha! But you're also kind and beautiful on the inside. I know that your friends at school all love you, and that your teachers do to.
Christmas is less than a week away, and I know that you're very excited. Santa will be bringing you exactly what you've asked for. I just hope you really love it, and that you play play play all Christmas day. Your imagination is amazing. I swear you can sit in your room and carry on conversations with toys for hours if I let you. You are loving playing with the dollhouse Grandma and Grandpa got you for your birthday, and I love hearing the way you play with your toys using it. Everyone is welcome in your dollhouse- Disney princesses, My Little Ponies, knights, dinosaurs, Power Rangers, etc.
You are turning into an awesome little person, and I love it.
I love you, sweet girl,
Love,
Mommy

Summer's almost over!
Dear Libby,
You have had a great summer! We went to lots of baseball games (Liam's, of course), we went to the pool a lot, we went to the park a lot, we went to Wisconsin to visit your cousin Eleanor (who is kind of obsessed with you), and we did lots of fun things around town.
We had 6 days off together last week/this week while your teachers got ready for new kids to transition into your classroom. You're now back at school, and the classroom is totally different! There are lots of new kids for you to play with. This has all been a bit tiring for you and you are definitely having some big emotions lately! This morning you were SO tired, and did NOT want to get up. I had to wrestle you into your clothes and practically drag you to the kitchen, where you then dawdled eating your waffle. We finally had to go, even though you didn't finish eating. You cried all the way to the car, where I put you into your seat without even putting your shoes on. When we got to school, you told your teacher, "I'm frustrated and tired and can't calm my body, so I'm going to go lie down on the couch." Oh, my heart. You have so many emotions, and it's just so hard to deal with them when you are so tired!
You have definitely grown over the summer. When we picked Liam up at the end of his first day of school earlier this week, we walked up to the door, and you could reach the buzzer! At the end of the school year in May, you couldn't reach it! You are getting so tall, and we're buying your clothes in the "girl" side of the store now! No more "toddler" clothes for you!
I love you!

Such a big girl!
Dear Libby,
You are such a big girl all of a sudden! You can ride your tricycle, you can pump your legs on the swings, you can get dressed all by yourself, you can zip your jacket... it all just amazes me. You are absolutely not a baby anymore. You'll always be MY baby, of course, but you definitely aren't a baby. You let me know that quite often too, by telling me that you're a big girl. I know you are, sweetheart!
You love going to school and playing with your friends each day. You love dance class, and gymnastics, and music class. You love being outside and getting dirty. You love reading books, and you convince me to read way more than just the three that I tell you to pick out each night before bed.
You are sleeping pretty well. If you wake up during the night, usually you just want me to re-cover you up, or pick up your lovie from the floor. You do end up in bed with me some mornings, but I'm totally fine with that. I'd rather have you get in bed with me at 5:30, and then sleep another hour, as opposed to you just getting up at 5:30, and then being tired later in the day. You're still napping at daycare.
You love your big brother. Earlier this week, you told me that you wished that you could have brown hair like Liam. I know you want to be just like him, and you want to play with him and be included. That won't always happen, because Liam needs his alone time, just like you do too. I do love the rare moments when you two actually play together, and get along for a while.
I love you, my sweet girl.
Love,
Mommy

Three!
Dear Libby,
You are three years old now! Three! I can hardly believe it. Next week, you will transition to a new classroom at daycare. You'll move from the Owl room to the Penguin room. There are a lot more kids in the Penguin room, including lots of your friends who used to be in the Owl room with you. I know that you are just going to love it. It will be good for you to be with older kids, instead of being the oldest kid in the classroom, like it's been for you the last few months.
You've had your birthday and Christmas (and Liam's birthday) all over the last month. You've received presents galore. You love your baby dolls, Magic Clip Disney princess dolls, and the little Doc McStuffins and Daniel Tiger figures that you received. As always, George and your lovie are your absolute favorite things. When you wake up during the night, it's usually because you can't find one of those two items.
You were sick over the Christmas break. You had your first ear infection, I think, since you had your tubes put in when you were about 14 months old. It turns out that the tube in that ear (the left one) has fallen out now, and the right one is about to come out too. I sure hope you stay healthy. I really don't want you to have to have a second set of tubes put in.
You will start gymnastics again tomorrow, but now that you're three, you'll be by yourself, without me. I hope that you continue to love it! You'll start ballet at daycare again in a few weeks too. The recital that you guys put on in December was adorable. I will never forget the way you looked in your leotard and tights, with your little belly. I wish I had your body confidence. You are perfect, my sweet girl.
Love,
Mommy
